Dorothy has been producing award-winning media with a focus on social justice and human rights since 1976. Her honors are an OSCAR nomination, an EMMY, the Gold Medal from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and more than 50 other film awards.
Her films have been shown not only in the USA but in many other countries.
One of her latest projects is a documentary Stealing America: vote by vote exploring a spectrum of “irregularities” in the 2004 Presidential election.
In addition to producing documentary films, Dorothy teaches, gives seminars, leads workshops, and trains interns in filmmaking.
Her book PRODUCING with PASSION: Making Films That Change the World follows her career and offers specific suggestions, based on what she has learned, for independent filmmakers to use in their work as they find their unique voices through filmmaking.
The book is recognized as one of the best guides of filmmaking process.
In terms of STEPS film festival Dorothy conducts a range of seminars and master classes in Russia and Ukraine.
